# Spot

You can also access spot markets for crypto assets powered by the [Unit Protocol.](https://docs.hyperunit.xyz/) 

Spot assets on Hyperliquid are assets on native chains (e.g. BTC on Bitcoin) that have been tokenized for use on Hyperliquid using the Unit Protocol. These assets trade on separate spot markets than Hyperliquid perps or HIP-3 DEXs. They cannot be used as collateral for your perps accounts. 

When you trade spot assets through trade\[XYZ], you're interacting directly with the Unit Protocol and Hyperliquid.
